Mapping publications
Two of Mapping’s main objectives were to make the know-how achieved by the project partners through the Research on Aesthetic available and accessible to the public, and to share the results and methods adopted for the research work – as well as for the other focuses – with the world of theatre for
young audiences, in particular with the professionals working in Performing Arts for Early Years.
We thought it was very important for Mapping to leave traces to be shared; that’s why we created the seven Mapping publications:

Mapping Research
A Map on the Aesthetics of Performing Arts for Early Years
edited by Manon van de Water (in English)
A reflection on the development of Mapping Research, which brought to the creation of the Map.
24 academic articles, with titles matching the points of the Map, written by Manon van de Water, Yvette Hardie, Katherine Morley, Young Ai Choi, Jackie Eun Ju Chang, and Yoona Kang.

La Ricerca di Mapping
Una Mappa sull’estetica delle arti performative per la prima infanzia
edited by Manon van de Water (Italian version)

The illustrated Map / La Mappa Illustrata
edited by Roberto Frabetti (in English and Italian)
The book collects the illustrations displayed in the exhibition “The Map”, created by illustrators, Katsumi Komagata (Japan), Manuel Marsol (Spain), Fabian Negrin (Argentina/Italy), and Klaas
Verplancke (Belgium). During the project, the illustrators could interact with the artists and researchers to create 34 original illustrations, inspired by the 24 questions forming the Map.
Along with the illustrations and four articles by Manon van de Water, Klaas Verplanke, Bruno Frabetti, and Roberto Frabetti, the book contains the 24 Points of the Map, translated into the 15 languages of the project Partners.

Children Spectators / Il Bambino Spettatore
edited by Roberto Frabetti (in English and Italian)
The book contains the 140 tables selected for the four editions of the exhibition (2019-2022), created by 129 international illustrators.
Along with the illustrations, the book presents four articles by Milena Bernardi, Roberto Frabetti, and Elena Pasoli.

Mapping productions A Diary of the experience
(in English)
A collection of pictures and thoughts of the Partners on the common coproduction process and its relationship with the Research, thanks to which the theoretical discussion was brought to the practical, artistic level, ultimately resulting in 27 new productions for early years.

A Cookbook for cultural Co-Programming in Early Childhood Theatre
edited by Giuliana Ciancio and Luisella Carnelli (in English)
Evaluations and best practices highlighted by the research/ action on Audience development, edited by Giuliana Ciancio and Luisella Carnelli, lecturers and researchers in the field of performing arts.

The Follow up paper
edited by Gerd Taube (in English)
Summaries and notes on the topic of direction and dramaturgy for the very young. A parallel piece of research developed by the Partner’s artistic directors and guided by Gerd Taube, director of Kinder- und Jugendtheaterzentrum in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland.

BOOK SHOP

With the premises of Teatro Testoni Ragazzi unavailable, we won’t be able to run our usual bookshop as we have always done at Visioni.
There will be a sort of “pop-up” bookshop on the occasion of presentations of books or other events, but there will also be a special surprise, born from the collaboration with Giannino Stoppani Children’s Bookshop, for the Map Exhibition in the Salaborsa Library.
The collaboration was the natural development of the exhibition, which will be held just a few steps from the bookshop – a place that is now part of Bologna’s history, an excellence in children’s literature and illustrations that has, over the years, enriched the cultural offer for the young boys and girls.
So, for the whole duration of the festival (from 20 to 29 October), the Mapping publications and the other publications by La Baracca – Testoni Ragazzi will be available for purchase at Giannino Stoppani Children’s Bookshop with a 10% discount.
Moreover, during the festival, audiences, teachers and professionals will be offered a 5% discount on all Giannino Stoppani books.
