About Us

We cannot be lazy, because we have to give children our best.

And by feeding them imagination through theatre, we will be feeding ourseleves, too.

La Baracca is

A worker cooperative where its members manage and carry out artistic and technical activities, as well as direction, organisation, administration, production, stage and costume design, following the principles of cooperation. La Baracca is a social cooperative active in the field of theatre, art and culture for children and young people.

A theatre company that, thanks to a wide range of theatre productions, a rich programme and constant research work, creates and offers occasions for boys and girls to explore different artistic languages.

A theatre considered as a centre of culture, a gathering space for the community – families, schools, teenagers, teachers and students; a space for citizenship, an environment where children and young people are seen as all-around citizens.

Production and theatrical season

We produce shows for children from 0 to 14;  we programme theatre seasons in our premises, presenting both our productions and shows by other national and international theatre companies, offering the audience new and different perspectives; we create events that offer a number of activities to a diversified audience: festivals, residential workshops, special series of shows, readings and other activities; we run and administer theatre halls in agreement with the Municipalities of Bologna and Medicina, where we develop most of our activity.

Workshops and training activities

We offer activities for teachers and educators: we organise workshops for the various age groups, both in and after school, introducing the participants to the different theatre languages and allowing for a constant exchange with the audience; training activities around theatre languages with and for those who work with children and young people in educational and research institutions; workshops in collaboration with municipalities and local authorities; workshops, round tables and conferences on the occasion of festivals and other events, often involving Italian and foreign artists and professionals; we collaborate with the University and other subjects in the creation and development of training courses and degree programmes; we develop editorial proposals by issuing publications around the topics of theatre for early years, training and the experiences linking theatre and education.
