, also for the avant-garde function recognized at the festival with respect to performing arts for early childhood, La Baracca - Testoni Ragazzi receives the Award for Artistic Excellence from ASSITEJ International
, the world theater association for children and youth . The Jury, made up of Katariina Metsälampi (Finland), Hope Azeda (Rwanda), Young Ai Choi (Korea), Jeremy Turner (United Kingdom) and Peter Rinderknecht (Switzerland), rewarded the company with the following motivation:"... for creative and innovative work for the very young. La Baracca is the "nest" of the new art for the new generations, which are so important to us today. All candidates do significant work in their countries, but La Baracca is spreading internationally. This company has been guiding the evolution for the entire theater sector for the very young for many years, collaborating with other operators throughout Europe and organizing the first theater festival for early childhood. "'The event stems from the work that since 1987 commits La Baracca, in collaboration with the pedagogical coordination and the educators of the Infant's nests of the Municipality of Bologna, compared to a theatrical research aimed at developing a poetics aimed at children from 0 to 3 years, thus placing itself among the very rare companies in Italy attentive to this delicate age group. , combined with the one already active on the age of 3-6 years, gave life in 2004 to "Visions of the future, visions of theater ..." an international festival of theater and culture for early childhood.
The children of Bologna are offered new productions created by La Baracca - Testoni Ragazzi for early childhood, along with numerous theatrical performances, dance, concerts, artistic performances brought by companies from different European countries and the world.
In the history of the festival the strong bond with the city is interwoven and a European project aimed at the development of performing arts for early childhood.
The editions of the festival are in fact connected with the activity of La Baracca - Testoni Ragazzi as project leader of Small size, European network for the diffusion of performing arts for early childhood
, recognized and sustained by the European Commission from 2005
Visioni's editions have been supported through the Culture Program for four successive projects: "Small size" (2005-2006), "Small size, the net" (2006-2009), "Small size, big citizens" (2009-2014), "Small Size, performing arts for early years" (2015-2017).
The fifteenth edition of the festival, in 2019, marks a new path linked to "Mapping. A Map on the aesthetics of performing arts for early years" supported by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.The international Small Size network
, dedicated to performing arts for early childhood, was also born from the festival and European projects.
The network now has 55 members from 26 countries on 4 continents and is part of ASSITEJ International. The Network develops its activity through productions, festivals, laboratories, research and promotion and communication activities.
