Theatre and the crèches

Since 1987 , La Baracca has been carrying out the project “Theatre and the crèches”, addressed to very young children. It is one of the very few companies in Italy and Europe focusing on this extremely critical age group.

From 1987 to 2010 , 28 shows for children aged 1-3 were produced, totalling 2,151 performances for this age group.

The research was presented in several national and international venues, among which Zurich, Marne La Vallé , Berlin, Frankfurt, Chicago, Namour , Granada, Charleroi, Brussels, Zamora, Barcelona, Madrid, La Coruna, Hamm, Munster, Lisboa, Zagreb, Leeds, London, Vienna, Salzburg, Horn, Bönen, Lippstadt, Strasbourg, Burghausen, Bludenz, Sabadell, Ljubljana, Bucharest, Bath, Liverpool, Lyon, Poznan,  Newry, Campinas, Sao Paulo, Agua de Lindoia,  Belfast, Marburg, Bilbao, Adelaide, Salisbury, Linz, Galway,Tokyo, Okinawa, Osaka, Cork, Baden Baden, Limoges, Villach, Cakovec, Darlington, Kaposvar, Schiltigheim, Stuttgart, Leicester, York, Moscow, New Urengoy and Seoul.

In 1989 , the Festival – International Congress of Theatre for Early Years was organised.
In the framework of the three-year project "Le città dell' infanzia" (1999-2001), on the occasion of Bologna City of Culture 2000, the International Festival of Theatre for Early Years “Theatre and the Crèches” was held (2000).

In 2004  the first edition of “Visioni di futuro, visioni di teatro… - International Festival of Theatre and Culture for Early Years was organised. The project is developed by La Baracca and the Festival has been held every year in Bologna, at Teatro Testoni Ragazzi.
In 2011, the 7th edition edition of the Festival was held.
The innovative work and high quality of the project was awarded by ASSITEJ International, with the ASSITEJ Award for Artistic Excellence 2008.
